Like the previous model of the iPhone,iPhone 3G also comes with only specific mobile service provider like AT&T,Airtel etc.So an unlock of the iPhone 3G is inevitable.

Presently unlocking of the iPhone can be done in two ways:-

1. Hardware unlock:-Opening up the iPhone is not everyone's piece of cake.Moreover,you wouldn't want to risk your hard earned money to just burn out trying to unlock your iPhone.There are two methods here too,the solder approach and the no solder approach which was developed by George Hotz.Its risky and try it only if you are geeky.
   
2. Software unlock:-This is a more easier approach.Can be tried out by yourself.This uses a software named ZiPhone which does something called the Jailbreak.

After you unlock your iPhone,any service provider can be used.Of course,the Apple warranty is now void and you are not eligible to any service.
